Description

Vintage organza sari silk partial pallu section, with a woven swastika and kalash pattern in charcoal black, grey, and cream.

Made from a deconstructed silk organza sari.

The fabric has loads of beading and metallic thread decoration, consisting of both tubular and round glass beads in gold and black, copper colored metallic chain stitching, off white thread chain stitching, and an off white and grey fringed edge. Excellent condition, only flaw is one swastika is missing half of the black beading.

This is not a complete pallu, as one side had been cut away, but it is only missing about 10 cm.

The piece measures 89 cm by 55 cm and is unfinished.

Sari silk organza is a durable yet open weave that breathes and is ideal for spring, summer or fall wear.

This is  re-purposed materials and may have some slight imperfections due to the age of the silk involved. I will do my best to clearly note of any flaws i see. Loose threads or missing beads or sequins would be an example of the kind of minor flaws you might get in fabric that is up to 80+ years old.

Certain types of silks have a naturally nubby, irregular texture called “slubby” which is NOT an imperfection, rather it is a characteristic of that type of spinning method.

Meisen, Tsumugi, and Omeshi silks, among others, have this irregular quality to them. It is a part of their unique personality.
